Swang could you please take a look at my post on pulling in APW - sounds like you have some tactics you use as a monk to pull? Any suggestions for the lone monk?

Kivik thanks for your awesome response. I've had great fun and success doubling up with a second monk for pulls in places like RI and I love that synergy. I am, however, the only monk raiding with my guild at this time. I got a few pulls in with a necro guildy, but I don't think I explained the method well enough (i.e. much necro splatter resulted). I've tried a few of my old splitting tricks from EQ1 to no avail. There's no way I can live pull 4 at once - if that trick even works anymore. Do you have any ideas for the lone monk pulling?

Monk Discussion / Monk General / Pulling in APW

I just spent my first night all out in APW. My guild used a variety of pull tactics. Most of them were less than graceful. They gave me and then myself and a necro some time to see if we could split non-mezzable pairs. Normally I would just go and experiment by myself, but I can't in this case so I'm turning to you folks. Do you have any suggestions/techniques for splitting (to pull single or have them split apart enough for a tank to tag) unmezzable linked pairs?

Hi Hattori - I too had been told I could learn RitW3 from the Maidens in Rhaz Inkur, but all my attempts failed. Instead, I was taught the ability through tanking several Zull Handlers. Cheers. You do not need to have the learned the previous phases of the ability as evidenced by the experience of my friend/co-group member (Rhiadd actually *wave*). Cheers

My first night fighting the Handlers I was grouped with another monk (harmonious) buddy and he learned RitW3 after about 4 mobs. We are both level 50; my INT and WIS are higher than his; he hadn't learned RitW2 (I thin), whereas I had . . . who the bleep knows howif any of that matters.

Over the course of the last month I tanked both Flame Maidens and Flare Maidens(several of each), but only the Handlers were willing to teach me RitW III. And, get this, it took me about 37 skill ups to finally learn the ability.

Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: FD 2.0 to arrive GU #3

Yes, at 50 I do die loads trying to split for my group in RI - it's downright embarrassing. Considering that the mobs in RI and other places of level 50 player concentration are 52+, what level can we expect them to be in The Ancient Warehouse? I don't understand arguments berating those of us who wish we could use FD as a pulling tool with a fair degree of reliability as "chickens to challenge". If FD had been as unreliable in EQ1 as it is in VG, monks would have been laughed right out of the game. As it is the main reason we get PUG's on my server as damage dealers must be because nobody comes here and sees the complaints from within the monk community about our DPS. Why should FD be any less reliable than some specialized attack?

I spent today initiating roughly 3/4 of the riftways. Quite a few of them were in hairy zones where evasion was crucial for a level 40. Upon flop all my aggro mobs from around level 38 and upwards) camped me; we've seen this before as a glitch whereby once you re-flop the mobs return to spawn . . . I thought. Instead in some instances it took me several flops and often repeated prolonged dirt munching for health regen to shake them. This new coding seems to be ideal for an inexperienced monk whose group shoves them in front and mockingly says to get things single to impress said group. Or, perhaps, for the soloer to recover from the onslaught of 3+ mobs stunning her health away, to pop up and finish off the lingerer (malingerer?). But, it stinks from the viewpoint of simple evasion. Let's educate the critters of Telon, get them literate enough to distinguish between "I am pulling! aiiieeee" and "Passing through, move along" t-shirts or something.
