1  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: T5 Crafted Gear. on: March 31, 2008, 09:09:10 PM
Thanks Simonson.

By Crit gear I mean Pain Crystals (Already have 1 lot of padding(5)). Just waiting on a 2nd Pain Crystal.

As for raiding, I'm not really sure if or when I will raid, I've got a couple of invites into guilds I can raid with if I want to. But I think I really need to look into getting into an Ozzy guild, but I also don't really want to be raiding 5 times a week, ran a rading guild in wow and raided that much and it just took it out of me.
ATM I just play to relax and have fun, so aren't really racing to 50.

As for tanking when duoing, it's me (Thanks why I went Drunken). My brothers Cleric is full healing, so I hold all the agro and he keeps me up.. But I think I have spoiled him a bit, cos he tends to complain about tanks in alot of the other grps he gets into. lol.

As a duo we will take on pretty much anything at least once or twice lol, we like to challenge ourselves, so 3 - 4 4dots at once, 5 - 10 3dots.

Atm I'm a lvl 40 Drunken Monk (50 LW) and I'm looking at making my T5 set. I Solo and Duo with a Cleric a lot.
So I will be making 2 sets of Armour.

First set: Full Pariah's (Plain)
For the Dex and Con while duoing with the Cleric.
I've found that taking and avoiding the hits is better then dealing lots of dmg.

Second set: Crit gear.

Should I make this armour Pariah's or Cavalier's?

I was thinking of making Cavalier's, because of the higher Str, even though the Vit isn't much good to me.
3  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: VG Log Parser on: March 28, 2008, 01:23:54 AM
Fujitsu,

I downloaded that parser and checked out one of my old logs that I had, and between that and the other parser the only real major differences that I can see in the 2 is the DPS & Duration.

Just looking at 1 fight (should probably looked at a different fight cos some of the others are closer than this one):
In VGLP it says:
Duration: 18s
Dmg: 7113
DPS: 395

In YAVLP same fight:
Duration: 62s
Dmg: 9028
DPS: 145

Now I manually looked at the log itself and the fight did only go for 18s (going by the time stamps in the log) and the first one seemed to be closer to right then the second.

I did read in the instruction that you need to have everything turned on in the window that you are parsing so it forces update more often, I'm just wondering if by me not having everything turned on if this has wrecked it somehow.

I will test either later tonight or sometime tomorrow, with everything turned on and see what the difference is, if there is any.

Edit:

I've just been checking over some of the other fight and having a bit more of a look around. Finding out how to kinda look at each fight, I found that you can look at the chart/graph of that fight.

Now here is where I think something is going wrong, the data might say I did X dmg over X duration, but when I look at the Graph it says I did X dmg over Y duration ( Y duration being closer to what the other parser & the log is saying).

So not really sure what I'm doing wrong or if its just somehow not reading the logs right... But like I said will test it more later.
4  Monk Discussion / Monk General / VG Log Parser on: March 27, 2008, 05:24:16 PM
Hi,

Just from searching around in times of bordem, I came across this Parser made by Xaruf on Halgard, from my little use of it (keep forgetting to start logging) it seems to work really well.

I have tried a few others that you either had to do a bit of manual stuff or they just didn't parse properly (didn't cut out the exploits etc or the bugged hits, you know those 1 billion point hits ).

So I just thought I would put it up here for all you other monks that haven't been able to find a good one yet, to give it a try.

5  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Fists of Celerity change on: March 27, 2008, 12:34:37 AM
I'm only lvl 38, but tested this a bit before and after GU4 and haven't really noticed any real difference in the dmg. The difference I've noticed is how it is displayed in the combat log.

Pre GU4 it displyed your total dmg all hits.

Post GU4 it displays each true hit of TF then the total dmg at the end.

Like Fujitsu said the easiest way to look at it is using AH. But to look at it using TF you would have to break TF up into it's True attacks. Because TF is really 3 attacks (for me atm) Not one, like it displays. So in it's true form it would read something like this:

You quickly strike for 1000 damage
You Thousand Fists hit for 2000 damage (Total dmg: FoC + TF)
You quickly strike for 1000 damage
You Thousand Fists hit for 2000 damage (Total dmg: FoC + TF)
You quickly strike for 1000 damage
You Thousand Fists hit for 2000 damage (Total dmg: FoC + TF)

For a Total dmg of 6k.

But this is really spammy so instead they display the FoC hits (3 because TF is 3 hits) and the total dmg:

You quickly strike for 1000 damage
You quickly strike for 1000 damage
You quickly strike for 1000 damage
You Thousand Fists hit for 6000 damage (Total dmg: FoC + TF)

But I do agree it's hard to tell what your FoC is really adding, I just normally 1/2 what my TF does and that is normally pretty close.

But I wouldn't mind seeing it as:

You quickly strike for 3000 damage
You Thousand Fists hit for 6000 damage (Total dmg: FoC + TF)
or
You quickly strike for 3000 damage
You Thousand Fists hit for 6000 damage (3000 + 3000) (Total dmg: FoC + TF)

1 handers would be:
You quickly strike for 3000 damage
You Thousand Fists hit for 6000 damage (2000 + 1000 + 3000) (Total dmg: FoC + TF)

Something like that anway
