Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Monk Nerf?

Personally, crits did need to be turned down. There were times when I would get 5 or 6 crits in a row including 2 or 3 epic crits. I hope it is not as bad as people are saying, because I tend to solo a lot. And in the same patch as the 'require food' nerf. :\ Top it off, I think I am in the middle of nowhere. So I will have to run to go get my food.
Anyone know if one of the crafting skills opens up into cooking? I am finding a lot of things to cook. Heh.

Kaji does not have all the Harmonious ability info. One man can only do so much. I am caught up in a crap storm at work so my playtime has been minimal.I have been intending to screenshot my abilities. Just need to do it three time for each ability because the endurance cost changes for each of my three stances. :\

I do not think that FD is just pass/fail. There are grades of success besides complete success and complete failure. There are main factors. such as level and distance, that influence how good/bad the success/failure is. Overall, me and my group bard both pull, me first, then him. FD, if all goes well, has split somethings. Others, despite many attempts could not be split. Some pulls are just hard linked together.

I think the patch from Tuesday(0206/07) night removed the 'learning' ability thing. I am sure it is something that will be detailed more fully once they finalize it. Before the patch, my group mates were learning my Fists of Ice ability, so it was not just critters.

Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Does chosing your Style keep you from learning skills from other disciplines

There have been a couple other posts about the abilities but I will summarize it again.
There are two different types of abilities.
Discipline Abilities - Learned from the General Monk Class Trainers All monks get these. Even though they are currently listed as Dragon Discipline, Drunken Discipline, or Harmoniuos Discipline. Again, All monks get these. Includes FD and some AoE attacks.
Mastery Abilities These are style dependant. Dragons only get Dragon ones. etc. There are only 3 or 4 that I have encountered so far(Akodo curses his current workload.). These are also self-taught through meditation and the style Aum ability.
They are listed in other threads.

You learn your Dragon Mastery abilities by using your meditation plus you Aum ability. These are self taught. Meditate up to 6 Jin then hit your Aum ability. This should be down 2 times at 15.

You will get abilities that consume Jin rather than endurance. Things like Ashen Hand, Iron Hands, and most of the Secrets( Ice, Fire, etc.) and the AE strike that I can not remember the name of.

I toyed with the disciple during beta and have not come across any 'secret' abilities like that. I think those are mainly for the interaction between character classes. Though it does not surprise me that they gave those to the disciple. Secret of Ice(lvl 22, I think) has "triggered" a lot of these for my group members. I have not seen anything "trigger" for me.

As a monk, you will find the shaman and the rest of the healers will scream FD! FD! when the pull goes bad. It won't always be used on others. Keep you alive can as a dungeon adventure from having to start back up top. And FD some times fails. So Kojan heal sometimes lets you have a second chance at it. I will convert you yet.
