Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Exploding Heart Macro

Oh i just thought, although i'm not drunken right now.....i was for a while, was wondering if that Errant Strikes (or whatever it is called) would also stack with the above method. It would be hilarious if it stacked: Normal dmg x 2 x 2 x 2 Instead of a 15k thousand fists, you get a 120k ! rofl although perhaps it doesnt stack at all. Has anyone ever tried this, or if not would be willing to? I can't really be arsed changing styles again

When raiding i always get the Quickening Jolt from a bloodmage, wait for a crit to pop up, and press the macro as follows: /cast "Fists of Celerity" /cast "Quickening Jolt" /cast "Three Finger Strike" celerity/jolt arent on global cooldown. use Aum Kor, psi buff and tell your bard to use "coda of alacrity" in the song, et viola you have 2 min refresh on it also. Pretty simple macro, but funny because celerity and jolt stack. Lasts long enough for you to make good use of celerity on thousand fists chains or others too. Talk about maximize damage! I couldn't live without it. Try on General Vicus for some fun I wont quote you any numbers for dmg but believe me it's insane

Don't get me started on rangers, They have a very similar offensive melee output to monk, yet a MUCH higher ranged output...talk about blatent imbalance... They have defensive forms, Good group buffs, heals, mass AoE kiting skills....just to top it off.. Monks are complete gimps for ranged damage, just as ranger should be for melee, or in the very least they should be noticably weaker Currently we parse higher due to their detaunt holding them back, which i am sure is planned to be changed. Oh and yeh, shurikens suck, no wait! they're great!, that 0.05%crit on the wardship shurikens is a lifesaver

Yeh i noticed while on test i could no longer use Soaring Leap while on my shadowhound, without being dismounted. A big nerf to monk travel speed! You might say monks shouldn't have been faster than bards in the first place, but lets be honest, bards are faster than horses!!! which is the most preposterous?! Master of the mind and body moving faster........guys that drink ale and sing in taverns moving faster..... Who would win a race, Bruce Lee or Elvis? I believe my logic is clear I really enjoyed soaring over the hills and trees, at one with the wind and environment, utilising the contours of the earth for more fluid and effective movement. It was like something from DragonBallZ!! Needless to say i went to bed that night crying.....with swollen blood-shot eyes, and a sunken heart

On a sad note i found out that monks have 2 superior skills and rogues/war get most of their attacks in superior (rogue even get some fnishers superior)
Maybe the next Vanguard raid dungeon is where all the good monk stuff is Let's be honest - they always leave monk 5-6 months later than most classes to sort out, as us old timers know all too well.

Yes usually they would, but not if you do what i said above. The whole mechanism only seemed to enter the game game recently (before mobs would just drop aggro and start to run back) This really works, a single monk can do it, and it's less risky than 2 FDers. In fact it doesnt even have to be a monk who does it
I just hope it's not considered an exploit

Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Ultimate split pulling method?

I noticed this while pulling in the Cartheon Wing, and believe the machanism was introduced in one of the recent patches. When mobs have been pulled >130m (or so) from where they spawn (or currently roam), they will lose all aggro and instantly teleport back to their spawn location. So heres how the method works for splitting two mobs, CartheonA and CartheonB;
--The monk throws a shuriken at CartheonA, and they both come running. -the tank tags and aggroes CartheonB -the monk runs off in a direction with CartheonA, and it resets (as described above)
Just interested if anyone else uses this? seems to work well
Only problems i can think of are:
Limited by environment Healer may get aggro on the mob monk is running with

And I believe there is a 30% crit chance cap from gear, so dex is a good path for people looking to go beyond that. What APW drop are you talking about with +3% crit? Most of it is not crit chance, but crit rating making dex more useful the more apw gear you get as you are likely replacing some of your crafted +crit chance gear. I say cav is better because the loss in dex is no where close to the loss you get in STR from pariah.
I also don't think legion's choking grasp and senator's claws are that bad at all, I plan on replacing my striking wraps with them once I get the drop since it will likely be a while before I get the crafted APW wrap.
I have seen the items for other classes, but you gotta realize that our weapon damage on hand to hand items does not and should not equal damage on their weapons. It's apples and oranges.
Let's assume monks could use daggers for now... http://vanguard.xanadu-community.com/images/items/222.pnghttp://vanguard.xanadu-community.com/images/items/268.pngWhich would you rather use Murugan? It's not as if we somehow "use" claws/handwraps/knuckles in a superior way, and thus the dmg balances out....dmg is everything, isn't it? (Keep in mind the dagger is from an entrance wing mob, and claws from one much deeper in too) If it's apples and oranges.... The dagger is a pristine, ripe, sweet apple.... and the claw is a mouldy, rotting orange that a stray dog ate, vomitted back up, then shat on. Ok not that extreme but still obviously worse

I'd always go for as much Str as possible. This is our primary stat for dmg. Couldn't care less about dex, just that it comes with Str on most items. I haven't really noticed any viable Int gear, that would overall increase my dps, compared to a str/dmg rating item. But if i had to choose between 16dex ring, or 16int, would go Int. If you need parry just buy a crafted "of avoidance" item
