I want to switch back to Dragon!    Wink
2  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: In Search of Full Recipe List for T2, T3, T4 and T5 Monk armor on: April 25, 2008, 03:42:50 PM
Step 3: Get a rare ore for that tier.  You need to mine or decon plate gear into resource.
t2 nickle
t3 star iron
t4 ember steel
t5 true silver

Hrm, out of mind i'd say that the crafter uses regular ore until t4 for the upgrades. Rare Metalsheet starts with t4 afaik.
3  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Are Dragon Monks bad? on: April 10, 2008, 03:07:41 PM
Well ... i switched from Dragon to Harmo some weeks ago after a long time of refusing and holding onto the once chosen class. Have to say i didn't regret up to now. With exactly same gear and skills i can solo much easier (did all 4 Graystone Blessings solo) and the raidgroup i'm in surely appreciates the Debuffs more than any AE of my former Dragonstyle.
4  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Gear at 50. on: April 10, 2008, 03:00:28 PM
My 2 cents

Titans Mask of Rage
Slot: Face
50 AC
70 HP
22 STR
59 Dmg rating (somewhere around 1.5% i think)

Drops from Mnalus Titan in swamps of Rumug.

Thx for the tip - i got it on first kill.   Cool

After GU4 decon options will be heavily nerfed to reduce camping of nameds for decons.  However crystals will come from harvesting, from what I've talked with guildies on test right now they will be much more plentiful in general.

Hehe, would like to see the face of one of my guildies when he gets knowledge of that. afa he told me, he bought some xtals of pain/striking when he read about GU4, considering that their prices will skyrocket even more and can make a nice profit. (sidenote: prices on my server are like that: pain - 1pp, striking 3pp, and yes, he has lots of plat, he's 3 chars at 50/50/50)
7  Monk Discussion / Monk General / I refuse changing style ... on: February 10, 2008, 10:56:08 AM
Ok, i'm a lvl 50 monk of Dragon-style on Halgar and i don't want to change style!

Why i make this official? Because i get pestered and even laughed at by other monks, when it comes to what style one is in PUGs. Does this only happen to me? And do YOU - my fellow Drunken or Harmonious monks - look down at the gimped, outdated Dragons?

Call me selfish - as i know i would be of more use to any group i'm fighting with, call me narrow-minded - as i know it would be a snap to change style and back again if "my" Dragon style gets "fixed", call me a fool - but i'll stay to the bitter end.

Why?
2 simple reasons. First, as it's a matter of RP for me - i didn't choose race for uber-dmg and i don't hop between different styles - or even classes - just to be top-nodge. I chose race, name and outfit to be what I want my monk to be.

Second reason is the most important though. If all former Dragon-styles simply change to another, why should SOE ever invest time to "fix" the Dragon-style?

Is there anyone out there that understands me? Or am i like an oldfashioned Dinosaur - waiting on the time when i'm the last of my kind?
8  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Perfect Gear for Raiding (or Grouping in general)? on: January 13, 2008, 01:24:36 AM
for the most part the evasion route is a waste for dragon monks.

As Dragon's are not meant to tank, but to dish out loads of dps in groups?

Youll find very quickly that youll need two very different sets of gear.

1) A set that focuses Dex>con>str  with either boon of health or no extra crystal... even a t5 full suit of rare armor will net 7k hp.  This is what you need to survive general ae type fights.  THe boon of health is nice if you will be getting healed, most of the time i hear the phrase "dont heal the monk, save it for the MT"

Already got some parts i swap, depending on situation. Some (old t4) parts with evasion/boon of health, for when i'm forced to solo/offtank and some for groupplay and max dps. But as i see it, i'll be ordering some pieces of flawless armor for raiding, teched with boon of health. I remember it's +10HP effect healing me nicely back in those times when i had to solo. I could stand much longer, having like 5-6 pieces with boon of health and some other crafted parts with qualian healing proc. This way the +10HP effect grows up to nice sums - and with a desciple's boon on me i could be MT.  Grin

2)... I would recomend going STR>dex>vit for dps gear, then just using the crystal of pain. nothing else.  This makes it so you get the most possible crit %.  Any other things you add to dps gear take away the crit %

Is there any cap or sortof value i should aim for? Atm i've already some crit-values from Gear and Jewelry, wondering how far i should plan the new pieces of armor.

Thx for any advice
9  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Nerve Strike? on: January 12, 2008, 03:18:35 PM
Well atm i'm finding NerveStrike pretty useful, while farming xennu energy shards on island of madness.

There's always groups of 3 "Fishes" on that island - and i'm solo, so i "sneak" up behind one (usually the healing Prophet) and stun it. This is giving me 30secs to kill the other 2 - which works well most of the time.

Given the fact that Dragon Monks use to be the weakest soloers amongst the monk-styles, i'm doing pretty well with this tactic.

Though i have to admit that our NS is a pretty unreliable method of CC in groupfights and i tend to only make use of it when other classes fail to control adds.
10  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Perfect Gear for Raiding (or Grouping in general)? on: January 10, 2008, 03:24:48 PM
First Post, so i'd like to introduce myself quickly.

Name's HAG - i'm a Kojan Human Monk, practising the Style of the Mighty Dragon on Halgar.

Up to now i've only gained knowledge from you, the Elders, by listening - but now it's time to raise my voice and ask for advice.

I've been lucky enough to get a Foc.Xtal of Pain and wonder what Armor i should have make crafted with it.
I'm geared atm with (out of mind, as on laptop):

Head - Felzekar (RI heroic)
Shoulder - Pauldron of Ravager (RI legendary drop)
Chest a) - Mail of Judged (RI legendary drop)
Chest b) - Flawless Jagged of the Assassin
Hands a) - Gloves of Hatred
Hands b) - Flawless of Accuracy
Legs - Flawless of Recovery

Other parts are (U)R t4 crafted pieces that need to be replaced. But - how?

As i see it, i could go the Avoidance/Elusion path - but i wonder if such helps in groups/raids, if not when getting aggro for some seconds. Or is it smarter to equip the other 4 pieces with "Boon of HP", for better healing(-ticks) and that extra HP that would make me survive that AE of a bossmob?

Hoping for Input on that issue - as those xtals of pain aren't really growing like mushrooms.   Wink
