1  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Perfect Gear for Raiding (or Grouping in general)? on: February 08, 2008, 07:53:51 AM
when i was harmonious my critrate was more around 70%

with drunken now it sits ~50%

this said that is on raids so there will be debuffs going on that make u crit more a lot of the time.
taking that into account fujitsu's numbers might be right.

yep its kinda frustrating not a single 2 hand monk weapon seems to have dropped so far.
i mean thats where our real dmg comes.

shadowsoul is a mini so i guess its ok if its not better then our devastation staff but id hope for some legendary 2 hand weapon in one of the bosses loottables.

If you use a UI thats shows not only the symbol but also the names of buffs/debuffs it will say:

Major stance of xxx

so you know when to use the stance kick.

same fo casters it will say:

Greater Enchantment of xxx

of course you could also mouseover the symbols but thats not really practical Smiley

idealy id like real time logs, real time parsers also

weaknesses being borked (display wise) and overall redundant text in the log parses ( weakness, celerity, and errant strike) does bother me.   People say it isnt counted on yaulp but i doubt that.  These are the same people telling us that monk and rogues are about even on raids and monks can occasionally out dps a raid boss.

yep thats why i mentioned earlier i edit all this spamlines out of a file before i parse it.
maybe some parsers do that themself alrdy but i had issues when i kept them in.

that said ofc people will outdps a raidmob quite often actually. i dont know why this is an issue tho. a raidmob only can dish out a certain dps until a tank becomes unhealable cause of a limited hp pool.
the other way around this is not an issue you just up the bosses hp.
VG started with quite a number inflation to begin with so we see 10 20k hits a lot for example.

there are encounters where the difficulty isnt ultra high dps from the boss but stuff thats happening around the boss.

on these events ur dps almost certainly will outdps the raidbosses easily but again this means nothing.

you could cut the mob hp in half and the playerdps in half and would end at the same situation.
but people at least wouldnt say anymore: eeek someone out dpsed a raid mob.

well why you have a point Fujitsu i also think balance on raids is more important atm.

lets face it group content is a joke right now. no one cares if 1 class is a bit weaker then the other in my experience as all get the job easily done.
(the only thing where balance is really broken is solo duo but personally i play this game to group so it doesnt bother me that much)
i really hope for some tougher group content soon to give non raiders something worth playing besides crafting lvling alts and so on.
6  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Monk damage in APW on: January 18, 2008, 08:18:14 AM

I actually had a conversation with a person who parsed a monk doing more dps than a raid boss. Wile impressive  I dont think we should exactly trust parsed numbers just yet.

~QTM

well i think a lot of classes can pull off more or equal dps to a raidboss. but considering mob and tank hp is quite different that doesnt mean anything  Smiley

on a second note, i dont mean to burst any bubbles, but drunken arent number 1 dps in raids anymore (of the monks) alot of the sloppy logs just leads people to think that.  Currently its harmonious > Drunken>Dragon  with drunken being only slightly behind harmonious.

This is mainly to do with what you said, in raids you have next to infinite endurance, which cancles out the penalty of harmonious offensive stance if they use aum ti.

hmm i m switching between harmonious and drunken every now and then and drunken is hands down more dps if you use errant strike.
with max refresh haste you have either fists of celerity or errants strike up a lot.
doubt harmonious can beat that.
but yeah this kinda requires psi and bard refresh haste but on a raid thats normally no prob.

about the parsing and additional combatlines:
i did  alot of testing lately and these additional combatlines only seem to show for yourself. so if others parse you the dmg is correct.
if u wann parse yourself u need to edit the logfile and kick out every line that involves:
You quickly strike
An errant strike
You exploit

that will do the trick
8  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Nerve Strike? on: December 28, 2007, 03:38:45 AM
I use it in apw and to pull often.
In APW i pop swaying step, run to the pul set of mobs then fd right at the one i plan to nerve strike.while im fd i  use the nerve strike skill  and quickly get away while the non nerve striked mob chases me,Take him to group /raid then fd and bingo only 1 mob.2 monks using this can  get a single on a pack of 3.

hmm am i missing something here? tried mezzing firesouls, frostsouls, chaos sparkles a few of the golem thingies and they were all mezz immune for me.
so no clue how you use nerve strike or do mobs become mezzable deeper in?

ahhhh grass hoppa  its like this the mobs are wearing tinfoil hats so that the casters cant cast spells on them  it just bounces off the tinfoil hats"unmezzable".

so this is where a monk comes in u run up to a cple mobs n fd  while there looking at u funny going heh look monk died right there on the spot hahahah.

u slowy squint one eyed open and count 3 2 1  you jump up n WACK!!!  u chop one mob in the neck n "stun" it big time for 30 sec  :2funny:mean while other nob  chases ya back to tank tank take agro at same time u fd to mem wipe stunned mob.

after all u did slap that mob silly ya know hope this helps clarify diff between mezz n stun angel

@ hattori hanzo : too bad nerve strike is a mezz then eh? Wink i mean did u actually try using nerve strike on the elementals  in apw? -> "firesoul is immune to the mesmerization part of your spell"

@ Kivik thx for the info. our psis will be happy to hear they can mezz later on hehe
