Now level 23 and I am finding out that my monk can do stuff that I would never of dreamed to do with my level 24 paladin. Monk harmonious style using crane stance and martial sword pulls 2 mobs each mob has 3 dots and is a level above the monk. Monk wins. Paladin would of died with just one of them. and I thought the paladins were the tanks of the game along with warriors and dark knights. But over all I realy like this class and the monk is quickly becoming my main. Please don't refer that to the monk, but to your spec. A Dragon Monk has very little chances against a SINGLE 3 Dot.

5) I THINK that auto attack wont fire off until global cool down expires, im not 100% sure on it, ill parse some latter, but i really get the feeling that 2s after the combat art is when you auto attack, and then its every 1.8s (or whatever the weapon dly is) Ill get back you yall after i get some sub 2s claws made
Yeah, this seems to make perfect sense. Sucks however...

Still the gay "Feign Death III has been toggled off." Which really sucks, when you just stand up for no reason and there are 2 Mobs right next to you, those APW Mobs normally don't give you that much time to get away.... Also the new Rank of Secret of Ice has Animations, when using styles, all pre-3.3 Secret Ranks still don't have any animations, just punching all the time, even street fighter had better animations in DOS....

So knowing what im aiming for would you suggest Drunken style? or is that too much a drop in DPS?
I don't know what you are aiming for, sorry The Style Change Quests are done pretty fast, so you can try out a lot. If you want taunts, you should go for Drunken. Apart from that it doesn't really matter, just Harmonious is easiest way to solo, and Dragon is the hardest way to solo. That's one thing you should consider. As for the DPS Part I can't tell you, only tried Drunken at almost 50 and at Level 50. They do good dmg at that level, no clue about low level drunken though.

to really exploit secrets what i'm interested to know is if anyone has managed to get a weapon/melee haste combo going such that they are dropping white damage before the global cooldown has refreshed. I see that as possibly being the biggest single boost to dps going maybe. when you get an extra 2-3000 damage dropping inbetween specials for free its gotta be good I havn't worked too hard on getting it to work, i use a pair of crafted handwraps, with +15% melee haste from steal the wind, i'm sure with a little bit of celerity crafted gear, or the right bard song i could get it working. also, would the extra dps from the auto attacks exceed what i lose from dropping back from my bladed staff? questions questions........... Try it with Aluul's Claws ( http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1349453/), they got a 1.85 Speed. Should do the trick. Or Arazmus Ones from NN, with 1.95 Speed http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1393168/Or this one 1.85 Speed http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1349454/But probably this will involve some farming.

Hmm ok Couple of questions back...whats a SNARF? And how does martial sword be defensive - i was looking at dmg and speed for the weapons tbh. Claws and fists are lower dmg due to their speed, sword middle of the road with dmg and speed and obviously bladestaff slower but more dmg. How does the defensive type of weapon come in there? As for the rest yeah i was reading more and seeing that it could just be the dragon style ive chosen. Thanks for reply in advance SNARF is the swearwordfilter for sh*t. Martial Swords get Parry Bonus, they are Defensive Weapons, kinda like other Melees wear a Parry-Dagger in their Offhand and others a Shield. Claws and Fists do have less Dmg, yeah, but you can wear 2 of them at the same time, so they don't REALLY do less dmg (with 2 Claws/Fists you also get +10% Crit, which really makes them cool). Normally a Martial Sword of same Quality as a Bladed / Martial Staff does only do 60% of the Dmg the Staff has. Don't consider the weapon speed, as you will spam styles a lot, and they reset your swing timer, normally this means you won't auto attack anyway, so the speed of the weapon doesn't matter, it's just the Dmg xxx - xxx that matters (not the DPS).

cresent Kick upgrade dropped off plapenipe today
Anyone ever seen any REAL upgrades. I mean, like adding a lot of Dmg. Superior Goading Slap is some nice utility, but doesn't really increase you Dmg. Crescent Kick Dmg is stupid anyway, it's just a Jin Builder. I saw Rogues get Superior Backstab. Do we get any real cool new Skills (that add Dmg...) ?

About Diamond Body:
It is a flat 30% increase to AC, and from what I can tell it taks buffs into account before multiplying. The reason I say this is, at lvl 29ish, I had around 1800 ac once in a group with a cleric and disc, my unbuffed armor was around 850, so it had to be taking something else into account.
A flat 30% means a lot more than just a flat +xx AC. If you are right and it goes after buffs, that's even more ridiculous.

Dragon with Martial Sword seems weird to me. Martial Swords do only about 60% of Bladed Staffs / Martial Staffs. And Dragon Monks take a sh*tload of Dmg. Soloing as a Dragon Monk is really a pain in the ass. I seriously suggest going for Harmonious Body if you want to solo. As for the taunt part, until GU 3.3 Drunken had some overpowered taunts, not sure about it right now tho. A lot of stuff has changed. Anyway: Dragon is kinda the glass cannon, Drunken the Tank and Harmonious Body is a very well balanced spec, perfect and overpowered compared to others specs for soloing. Edit: Dragon with Martia Sword seems weird to me, because Dragon is a Glass Cannon, you can't take a sh*t, but Martial Swords are a Defensive Weapon, not an offensive weapon. Glass Cannons normally don't wear "shields" (Martial Swords are kinda like shields, defensive stuff. )

How about the Balancing between Diamond Body and the Armor Buff of Dragon's Def Stance ?
Haven't been Harmonious since 3.3, but I read a few times that Diamond Body is now perma on. Dragon's Defensive Stance is only cool for the Elemental AEs in APW, the Armor Buff seems kinda week, and Diamond Body gives about the same Amount of Armor (even while in Off Stance, this means Dragon's Def Stance + Harmonious Off Stance at the same time, except for the AEs, but other Melees don't have that Fire/Cold Rune either and still survive.)
I'm not sure about this, but someone who knows the values better, should please post about it. I'm not sure enough to really complain about it right now, but just a thing that came to mind.

Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Pulling in APW

Kivik thanks for your awesome response. I've had great fun and success doubling up with a second monk for pulls in places like RI and I love that synergy. I am, however, the only monk raiding with my guild at this time. I got a few pulls in with a necro guildy, but I don't think I explained the method well enough (i.e. much necro splatter resulted). I've tried a few of my old splitting tricks from EQ1 to no avail. There's no way I can live pull 4 at once - if that trick even works anymore. Do you have any ideas for the lone monk pulling?
Same thing for me. It's really annoying. Would be cool with a second monk, cause it makes things easy. I did it with Rogue sometimes. But would be way easier with a second Monk. Was confusing the whole raid, when I explained how it works, but it did work (I think the other guy, who was the tagger, died, but well, a real Death is as good as a FD, you just lose one player). But that leaves my "utility" as wipe recovery until now. Yeah, it's kinda funny to pick together 17 people and make it possible to continue, but I'd prefer not wiping, which would however reduce the utilty to 0 right now, would need another monk.
