16  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: what do we want with pushing hands? on: March 26, 2008, 09:33:44 PM
I see nothing wrong with pushing hands in its current state aside from it using 40 endurance ( about double what ranger's stance push does ) and it also seems to be significantly weaker than rangers stance push... Typically takes about twice and many pushes to yield the same result as a ranger.... twice as many pushes with double the endurance cost really makes rangers the viable choice for a stance pusher...

I personally see nothing that would warrent the nerfing of monks. The fact is Vanguard is not primarily PVP based so nerfing a class because of pvp is just silly. Attacks like Staggering Punch, Cresent Kick and Boundless Fists are not high damage abilities... The main purpose of these abilities is to replenish our jin and to trigger our finisher chains which is where all our true damage is derived from.

I by no means disagree that monks are powerful in pvp but any nerfs to 'fix' the pvp aspect would drastically hurt monks in group and raid content which is this games primary focus.

I dont think they will always be better. IF our fists are always better then anything that isnt ultra-rare, that will change very fast because all the work put into the monk / discliple only weapons would have been a complete waste of time and they arnt going to go through and take all those out of the game so the easiest solution is to reduce the damage we do with our bare fists.

I really like the orc racial trait because it has the ability to heal you for more then the kojans racial trait and at the same time increases your damage. The reuse time is also 10min quicker i believe.

One thing im curious about with the ADV Finishers. Do These only trigger from critical hits from the normal Finisher? For example While fighting those dragons outside of KHal on my level 35 monk i would hittin all the finishing flying kicks but rarly did the ADV finisher Trigger. I Did pay attention to wether i missed the finisher or not and most of the time i did no miss so im curious is it just a random trigger chance or does the ADV finishers trigger from crit hits like i hear normal Finishers do.

That would be really sweet if FD did drop your aggro. In EQ1 it was kind of annoying that FD really did nothign with your aggro and if your FD failed you basically were dead instantly if you didnt sit up extremly fast.

The higher level Feign Deaths also reduce the recast timers. I know the second one is down to 4second reuse i would assume the 3rd upgrade to it is 2seconds but not 100% sure about that.
24  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Question about the Aum on: January 24, 2007, 01:16:19 AM
If i undertsand correctly anyone will beable to use drunker disciple, dragon disciple and harmonous body abilities. The only ones that are stance based are the CA's that say for example Dragon mastery, Harmonous Mastery, and Drunken Mastery. Thats what i understand from a few other posts and a similar question i had earlier today also which was answered for me.

Very nice list. Good work Smiley

So i got beta buffed to 35 yesterday night and got all my Combat arts and what not where i want them. I was reading some of them and they have for example Dragon Disciple or Dragon mastery in the description. Does that mean only those monks who go Dragon stance are going to beable to use that combat art? Same goes for Harmonious Body and drunken disciple. Will you have to be on that stance to use that Combat art or does it have another meaning?

Definatly going orc here. Ever since i made my first monk when Kunark was released ive been a big fan of the iksar race. Never really liked any human type races i dont know if its because of bad memorys from freeport and not being able to see more then 2 feet infront of me or what but i just cant stand them. I did roll up a Kojani and half elf monk but i just really didnt like the asian theme as much as the orc's area. Orcs also get the best stat bonuses and a really awsome racial trait especially since im going dragon style.
