Title: Visual Effects of Secret of Ice/Flame

Is the visual effect of our secrets of flame and ice working as intended?  I know it's a bit geeky, but one of the enjoyment factors for playing a monk for me is the "kung fu" animations.  These dps boosts are a must, it's not as if it's really an option to not use our secrets but they completely negate the cool/fun factor of karate moves.

Please give me some good news, that it's atleast not intended to be this way and that things will likely change.

I seem to recall it's been noted down as a bug. But Quinn-san will have to confirm this for both of us to be certain.

Its a most anoying thing ever - i was happy to read that those both secrets are toggle buffs than i saw that they still have the same visual bug since beta in. Hello??? Does even one dev got VG instaled on his computer??? Did they ever test it or they just hope that class leads spend whole life doing devs job??

It makes me verry angry - sure its not world important but i played 10 minutes my monk yesterday and turned VG off.

Guess i dont turn it on untill SoE stop changing things before they do the OLD bugs. Game is still full of visual and play bugs from Beta on and they dont pay atention.

Im starting to hate it.

Yea its a smal thing - you are right, im overacting - but IT IS damn anoying.........

Pardon the n00bness, but I'm still a green monk :)

The effects I see are flame bursts and ice shards respectively. Are they the wrong graphics? What is expected to be there?

The bug in question is that the secrets stop you from performing your attack animations  and replace them with a wimpy jab like one.

On a tangentially related note. I would love to have a different way that indicates which secret I have on.  When raid buffed the buff list is so long that the icon gets lost.

A very minor issue though.

I'd be more than happy to have them just leave the fiery glow around the fists and not affect animations at all.  Maybe just a slight glue blow for the ice version :).  If you think the jab animation stinks.. and oh yes it does, compare it with some of the other weapons equipped... staff is ghastly, looks like we've never been in combat before and we're charging in with a broom.

Yup, I agree. I brought this issue up over a month ago, and Quinn noted it as he always does (all us monks owe him huge, monk has come a long way). Since i'm always tempted to toggle secret of fire/ice now, it makes all that extra animation work they did that makes the monk unique pointless. I actually retired my monk until they fix it. I just don't enjoy playing him without the animations. Sounds like a weak excuse, but it's just a turnoff to see that repetative action constantly in such a visually advanced game

I really wish they hadn't ignored this before putting the changes in. Now it's probably not even going to be fixed until sometime in January due to the holidays.

Funny thing is, that it works for the new Rank of Secret of Ice. Which made me consider way too often, to just use the new Secret of Ice all the time, as it really sucks to have no fighting animations... :'(

One thing I've noticed is that clicking the same Secret twice toggles it off. That shouldn't happen. And even IF it should happen, we should get a green + on the currently active Secret, like Dread Knights do for their Symbols.

secrets are now perm own unless toggled off, so yes they should toggle off when you click a second time, although i do like the idea of the green + to show its on, rogues get it for leath strikes :-p

There was another level of secret of Ice added due to gaining it now at lower levels.

I'm pretty sure I automaticaly had the newer version in my book, but I might have trained it and just don't remeber.

i had to train it at 50 to get the new version.  Pretty sure thats what they are talking about

So is this EVER going to be fixed?

This is seriously killing me playing at all. I'm pretty casual, I (would) mostly play this game a few nights a week when I have some spare time, but lately I've been playing other things cause I just don't want to play a character with bad animations :/

I have to agree with Sohbek. Really needs to be fixed. I know myself and I'm sure quite a few others chose monk origininally because they looked cool. This jab thing is just... stupid. Never should have happened and should be fixed much faster than it is now...

Im gonna see if i can get my crafter buddy to make me a wooden spatula weapon that i can stab bad guys with when i use secrets.... Aunt Jemima's Revenge!
