Title: New Ulak Quest Post by: neospud on March 25, 2007, 06:08:43 AM There's a new quest in Cragwind Ridge for a Ulak and Claws. Its heroic around level 36. I apologize for not having the exact stats.. servers are down and i'm passing time. Its 1.85 speec and 46(ish) dps with max damage of about 92. The quest seems pretty strait foreward, its a continuation of the one where you have to fly the griffon around. However the drop rate of some shards you need toward the end(i think) of the quest is seemingly broken. Either way the quest does not appear to be working as intended. Oh and it had no other stats other than energy on it... Good luck w/this one i know i'll be going for it soon as i can get some of the items to drop.
Edit: Post on Silky talking about how it may be bugged. http://www.silkyvenom.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16564 Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: Leishiu on March 25, 2007, 01:16:26 PM To bad that speed would make it worse than most other fistwraps :/
Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: tr4120 on March 25, 2007, 02:41:52 PM Thought all fist weapons (wraps, knuckles, claws etc) were 2.25
Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: Soluss on March 25, 2007, 03:39:38 PM Nah i had some 1.85 wraps
Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: neospud on March 26, 2007, 06:16:10 AM To bad that speed would make it worse than most other fistwraps :/ Its not the speed that makes or breaks a weapon, its the raw damage. If at level 37 i have rhino hide ulaks and they max at 85(ish) damage, that would be an UPGRADE wouldn't it? Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: Leishiu on March 26, 2007, 07:14:30 AM Not entirely true; speed also factors in how much use you get from your strength (the slower the weapon, the more strength bonus pretty much - while this evens out on autoattack, low delay is obviously even more determinal on specials as they have a low damage range from the start). The rhino gloves are also too fast really (2.00 speed iirc); monk itemisation doubtlessly leaves something to be wished for.
Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: neospud on March 26, 2007, 08:05:26 AM Point well taken. I'm not sure exactly the numbers on str's usefullness. At least the rhino's have some str built in to them. Good info since i'm tiger and moving more toward str on my items. Still they're quested... i'll compare my numbers when i get them and see what happens.
Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: Leishiu on March 26, 2007, 08:27:24 AM If you're harmonious, you should really be getting the Dorf stick in Dargun's Tomb or (better yet) the Lightbulb-stick from Greystone. The first is 144-222 damage or so (speed 2.8 ~65.something dps), the second is 186-279 (speed 3.25, 71.something dps); along with decent enough stats. The diffrence between fist-weapons and two-handed is absurd, and Tiger Stance allows you to maintain a very decent crit rate.
Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: Shengyi Tsung on March 26, 2007, 09:43:03 AM I dunno dude, c0mpared h2h and 2handing, i feel like i do much more damage h2h. I hit for about as hard as i do with 2handing, but with h2h i can get a few auto attack hits in between during the global refresh in. I feel like i do much more DPS h2h honestly. Just comparing how long it takes mobs to drop when im using h2h they seem to drop faster.
i have 40DPS handwrap and 32DPS knuckles (no str bonus on either) and a 41DPS bladestaff (no str bonues) Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: Riot on March 26, 2007, 09:59:47 AM I've been hand to hand the whole time (level 37 now), but I'm trying to get up 2hd skill for the Graystone martial staff. That looks just too good to ignore. It'll be the first time that I actually get something that I use from a quest, because apparently none of the quest givers ever have anything useful for a monk.
Title: Re: New Ulak Quest Post by: neospud on March 27, 2007, 08:41:27 AM Yeah.. i planned on having both those -and- heroic handwraps... This was to let people out there know that there was a new weapon on the block that they could possibly go get after an upcomming patch fixing the issue...
