RANT ON

So, I was fighting an Oracle of Dust when a Loamsworn Prophet joined in.  Knowing I couldn't fight them off solo, I turned and hit sprint and headed for the guards at the House of Fallen Leaves, getting the agro of an Ulvari Devourer as I ran past it. 

I got to the guards and turned to fight the mobs with them, knowing I was likely to die, but hopeful the guards would be enough to maybe let me live.  Instead, they just stood around as the mobs killed me, and every other player in the House of Fallen Leaves.

Since then I've been having players like Ruue promising to train me whenever they see me, because of this incident.  I've tried to explain that I was trying to get the guard's help, but they didn't do anything.

What's the point of having guards, if they don't do anything?  I wish there were official forums to post this on so a dev might see it and actually think about the purpose of NPC guards.  My reputations in the toilet because of a failed game mechanic.
