Title: Nerve Strike Useless?
Post by: Miso on February 19, 2007, 11:54:07 AM
I hit level 22 recently and got nerve strike.  Can anyone please explain how this works?  Using nerve strike lets me stun a mob if I am out of combat?!?!  How is this useful?  So far the only mobs I have been able to stun are innocent deer and other wildlife.  Does anyone know of a way to use nerve strike when your group gets an unwanted add?  Otherwise, I'm not sure I see the purpose of this ability.  Is there something I am missing here?

I love nerve strike! I use it all the time.  Basically,  yes you have to use it while not in combat but FD will put you back out of combat.  So you can use FD,  then hit nerve strike while still on ground and you will pop up and stun the mob for 30 seconds.  If you are in a group,  the tank pulls a group of 3,  you can nerve strike one of them before you start assisting in combat.  If you want to perma stun a mob then you can hit FD, stun, fight for 25 secs or so, FD, stun, keep fighting and so on.  For split pulling,  this skill works great!  You can run up to a group of mobs and hit FD,  then hit nerve strike to pop up and stun one of them, then run back to your group with the other mob ONLY.  I've noticed that sometimes if you FD after bringing back the mob to group,  you can clear the other mobs from list and effectively only pull that one unstunned mob that you brought to camp.

Also,  you can tag a group of mobs with ranged attack and then wait for them to get VERY close to you before using FD.  Then pop up and stun one and FD again.  Wait until all the other mobs move back and then tag the single pull mob that you have stunned.

This skill is very worth while using,  either for helping with crowd control or for split pulling purposes.  Ofcourse, if FD fails then you will have to keep trying until you get a succesful FD or you won't be able to do nerve strike due to in-combat messege.

Thanks Dalrock, appreciate the details.  I will try this out tonight.  I wonder why Sigil wants us to FD in order to use nerve strike?  Seems like an unneccesary hassle.
