Title: Learning Abilites From Mobs Post by: Apoco on February 07, 2007, 11:22:39 PM I have heard that monks have the ability to learn certain techniques/abilities from mobs. I have seen warriors do it (warriors with AE Cold Dmg Abilities etc) which they tell me they did it during a battle. Does anyone know of these abilities? if so, where do we fight to get them?
Title: Re: Learning Abilites From Mobs Post by: Arameth Lysaralyn on February 07, 2007, 11:41:33 PM I think this idea is only partially in the works. I know from my Ranger when you use Blades of Winter twice in a row you "learn" Chilled as a new combo. Its not something that you use (aka not a click ability). That is the only class so far I've seen anything close to "learning from mobs" so far.
I also heard that abilities can be learned from critters (as well as spells) though when I heard this in beta it was "something to add after launch" Arameth Lysaralyn Title: Re: Learning Abilites From Mobs Post by: Akodo on February 08, 2007, 09:38:52 AM I think the patch from Tuesday(0206/07) night removed the 'learning' ability thing. I am sure it is something that will be detailed more fully once they finalize it. Before the patch, my group mates were learning my Fists of Ice ability, so it was not just critters.

Spies of Saruman! *ugh* No wonder people are preferring solo play if monkly secrets are being stolen. Title: Re: Learning Abilites From Mobs Post by: Ample on February 09, 2007, 08:52:24 AM I have a guildie constantly crashing because he learns "Destroy" then his client craps out. This stuff has been happening since beta2. Ya think they would have fixed it by now :knuppel2:

This has nothing to do with learning abilities from mobs. The disciple has many hidden chains.Title: Re: Learning Abilites From Mobs Post by: Qonk on February 09, 2007, 11:48:15 AM I think the patch from Tuesday(0206/07) night removed the 'learning' ability thing. Non-monks learning fists of ice from mobs was addressed in one of the recent patches. I think the best way to think about learned abilities is it gives you a chance to learn an ability for your class before your trainer has it available, or at the very least sometimes may save you a trip to your trainer.
