First of all, you rock Kaji! This list is great :)

I have a question though.  As we all know, before level 15, we all get skills from each discipline.  My question is, after level 15,  if something on that list is marked Dragon, does that mean that only Dragon monks will get this skill?  Or is this a list of skills that every monks get?

Title: Re: New Monk Ability List
Post by: Kaji on January 23, 2007, 09:12:44 PM
Ah, good question...  I forgot to mention that while I do have data on some of the Dragon Mastery abilities from my buffed lvl 35 test character, they are the only ones I have.  I don't have the level info yet on these, but I have the other details.

This list is not what you are seeing on other sites - there have been numerous changes to the numbers in recent patches, and almost nothing matches those old lists.  I started out with a blank spreadsheet, and populated every single value from screenshots taken last night.  So this is all totally fresh - click each link and you will see what I'm talking about.  Nobody is showing this much data yet.  :)

Back to the original question:  The abilities you see now should be available to all monks.  Notice that there are Dragon, Harmonious, and Drunken skills prior to lvl 14.  There will be 3 new ability types as soon as I can finish gathering the data.  These are: Dragon Mastery, Harmonious Mastery, and Drunken Mastery.  These match the names from the tool tips in-game.  If you go Dragon, you will get Dragon, Harmonious, Drunken, Ancient, etc, PLUS Dragon Mastery.  You would not get Drunken Mastery, etc.  Once I have all the data, these will be updated and I will implement a filter to let you hide the skills you can't possibly use.

Thanks Kaji, awesome info ,
best ability list i've seen anywhere for any class :P

i took screenshots of all the abilities I had just before beta closed too, I took the screen shots from my abilities tab in adventuring, so it shows me weaknesses and refresh times too if you want me to list them.

one thing i found was
lvl 12 - Thousand Fists I
Type: should be Finisher with a 1 min cooldown (crits up to nearly 800 with my lvl 15  :))

Best list anywhere! Thanks for the completeness and cleaniness!

Now where are the discipline-specific abilities?

Thank you.  It's in my spreadsheet ready to go in the live db on the next update.  Anyone else see any mistakes or typos?  The figures marked with ?? need to be collected from the latest screenshots, but I'm still looking for a few things:

Dragon Mastery data for levels 35+
Drunken Mastery for 15+
Harmonious Mastery for 15+

I just updated the database with some new skills and info.  Also, I added a feature to the skill details that lets you click through to the opener for a given finisher.  It appears that there are 2 possible types of finisher - ones that can follow any opener, and ones that can follow exactly one opener (ie. Palm Explodes the Heart I.)  I'm still playing around with this, so right now you can go from finisher (or advanced finisher) to it's opener.  Later, I plan on adding links from opener to finisher, and finisher to advanced finisher.  Hopefully this will clear up some of the confusion as to what opens what.  :)

Ok, last update for a while.  I added more links from openers to finishers, finishers to advanced finishers, and vice versa.  For some skills, it will also show the weakness exploits and exposures - where data was available from beta.  Once everyone has a chance to get their characters up a few levels, feel free to post any corrections in this thread.  I'd appreciate any feedback you can provide.  Details are helpful, screenshots even more so.

Just a suggestion for clarity on the discipline vs mastery confusion:

Current:
Discipline: Dragon
Discipline: Dragon Mastery

Very subtle. People might be missing this.

What about:
School: Dragon Discipline
School: Dragon Mastery
or
Expertise: Dragon Discipline
Expertise: Dragon Mastery

Or something similar. Just a suggestion. Doesn't bother me, it just might cut down on the confusion.

Peace,
Akodo

I had a few ideas on this - I was thiking that once I have enough info in there on the mastery abilities, I could add a drop-down or check boxes to filter the mastery abilities.  I agree - it's confusing for now, but the majority of what is in there now is Dragon Mastery - since that's what we got buffed to towards the end of beta.  Other sites have very little info on Drunken and Harmonious as well - so there's not much usable info out there at the moment.  :\

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this, but I did not get Thousand Fists I on my live Monk at level 12.  I only received Cresent Kick II.  Im at work now so I cant look on the trainer and see where Thousand Fists has moved, but looks like its no longer lvl 12.  Just a heads up.

Looks like we got a nerf while beta was down, damage numbers for our attacks have been changed, here's a list I have compiled.  1/29/07 <edit- your numbers are from before our revamp up in beta, so really not a nerf, just an adjustment down from what our last numbers were>

A powerful attack that deals melee damage plus 11. Increases Jin by 1

Iron Hand I
Cost 2 Jin, Instant, Range 5, Refresh 2.0
Your hands and weapons become hard as iron, increasing the damage done by all melee attacks by 6

Level 2 (5 Copper)

A kicking attack that deals 15 to 19 damage. Increases Jin by 2

A surge of Jin envelops allies within 10m, allowing them to deal extra damage on their next attack.

Level 6 (20 Copper)
Flying Kick I
10 End, Instant, Range 5
A devastating kick that hammers your opponent for 90 to 98 damage. Increases Jin by 1

Swaying Step I

Counterattack your opponent, quickly backhanding for 49 to 55 damage.
Hits target 2 times

Whirling Storm I

You become a whirling storm, inflicting melee damage plus 31 to all opponents within 10m. Increases Jin by 1

Boundless Fist II
24 End, Instant, Range 5
A powerful attack that deals melee damage plus 34 damage. Increases Jin by 1.

*sigh* yeah, I need to revise it again.  I figured it was a safe bet to enter everything after the close of beta, but I guess Sigil can't leave things alone for that long.  I've been playing in my spare time over the last few days to take advantage of the head-start, but once things calm down a little I'll go over all the numbers and get them up to date again.

Thousand Fists I (Level 12) is Really 14th level

At least it was for my Kojan Half-Elf Monk.  I Tried the Trainer in Tanvu at 12 (only got Crescent Kick II)  I Trained 14th IN Renton Keep and found Thousand Fists I.  Sorry I did  not think at theh time to do any screenies.  Will try and remember to get a screenie of each page of skills from that trainer (as well as name).

While my character is stuck in limbo trying to do the style quest(dam buggy chunks), do Dragon monks get all the aum's such as  Aum Liat?  Maybe i'm blind but I didnt notice anything distinguishing Harmonious from Harmonious Mastery.  I would prefer Dragon Style but the huge advantage of pulling with the 50% run speed would make a big difference imo.

Title: Re: New Monk Ability List

Kaji does not have all the Harmonious ability info. One man can only do so much. I am caught up in a crap storm at work so my playtime has been minimal.I have been intending to screenshot my abilities. Just need to do it three time for each ability because the endurance cost changes for each of my three stances. :\

At lvl 30 your Storm Dragon Stance is upgraded automatically to Magnificent Storm Dragon (cost is now 1 Jin every 6 secs). Stone Dragon Stance is automatically upgraded to Eternal Stone Dragon Stance (40% fire/cold rune, attack is 15% slower...or 20%, the buff icon says 15%, hovering over the stance says 20%)

Feet of the Fire Dragon 3 is 377 to 401 damage over 16 seconds

lvl 36:

*you do not learn

Reed in the Wind 2

*you do learn

Dragon Rakes Its Claw 2
34 Endurance
Dragon Mastery
Range: 10
Offensive Target
Cast: Instant

Rake all opponents in front of you, inflicting melee damage plus 96. Increases Jin by 1

im a Harmonious Monk lvl 31..

Eagle Claw I (was lvl 16 but not sure) 15Endurance
Tears through your opponents armor , inflicting 47 to 53 damage and reducing its mitigation by 15% for 18 seconds

Increase Jin by 1

lvl 22?
Deadly Adder Hand I 38 Endurance
A vital strike aimed at the internal organs, this causes your opponent to become instantly weak (-58Str)for 16 seconds. The moment the effects of this ability wear off, the target takes 123 to 133 damage.

22?~
Tiger Pounces I
4 Jin Refresh 5:00
A precise attack that deals a minor 57 to 65 damage but will always result in a critical hit.

Increases Jin by 1

lvl 26 Eagle Claw II
73-81 dmg

lvl 31 Steal the wind I 27 Endurance
A breath stealing attack that deals 165 to 177 damage and slows your opponents attack speed by 15% while increasing yours by 15%.
Counterattack (after dodge) duration 1min
(spell casting speed and atk speed)

lvl 32
Tiger Pounces II
96to 104

And Quivering Palm I.. II lowers opponents dmg by  50%

I never got  Reed in the Wind I as a Harmonious Monk.. think it got replaced by:

Harmonious:
38: Northwind Snaps the Limb I.
Deals melee + 380-something. Lowers opponents damage by 75 for 20 seconds. It really looks great until you try to activite it, notice it's a finisher, and then is on a 2 minute timer. But with Deadly Adder Hand, you can turn a 300 hitter into a 100 hitter, if even for a brief few seconds! Oh, costs 10 endurance, like most finishers.

38: Diamond Body
Cleanses you from curses, poison, diseases and generally bad things every second for two minutes. Increases AC by 800 (might scale). 30 minute reuse, 6 jin.

For the reuse time, our abilites have a really lacking boom effect!

Only problem will be that our skills have new dmg and end values heh. But the levels stay the same I guess. If there is a mob learned ability, may want to annote that as well. On that note, anyone found the new abilities yet? Have not found any myself ><

Title: Re: New Monk Ability List
Post by: Leishiu on March 09, 2007, 07:01:01 PM
42. North Wind Breaks the Trunk I
Advanced Finisher, 10 end cost. Weapon + 440'ish damage. Every time the mob debuffed by it attacks, he's hurt for ~100 damage. Lasts 20 sec.

lvl 46

Six Dragons Strike V is melee damage plus 302
Feet of the Fire Dragon IV is 491 to 521 damage over 16 seconds

===========================
Dragon Rakes Its Claw 3
34 Endurance

Cast: Instant

Rake all opponents in front of you, inflicting melee damage plus 136. Increases Jin by 1

===========================

Aspect of the Spirit Dragon

34 harmonious now^^

just got something new:

Trapping Mantis Claw I

6 Jin    Refresh: 5:00

You deflect and trap an incoming attack than quikly strike back, inflicting 182 to 195 damage. Your opponent is trapped, preventing it from attacking for 2 seconds. This ability increases the crit chance on your next attack by 20% and always opens finishing attacks.

Not to impune Kaji, this is a great site and love coming here, but I have an updated list of all the general skills and Harmonious abilities written at

http://forums.monkly-business.net/viewforum.php?f=36

Feel free to use this list to update the one here, I try and stay on top of it as they all get changed.

Title: Re: New Monk Ability List

Harmonious 44:
Trapping Mantis Claw II

Just like Rank I, but a massive 70 damage more or so. Still, the 5 minute reuse makes it even less usable.

Title: Re: New Monk Ability List
Post by: Vinjin on March 18, 2007, 04:51:54 PM
This is a great list. Thanks for putting in the time.

I was curious if it might be worthwhile to add the different stances in here, or perhaps we should create a separate list for those. Realizing these could change, I think it would be helpful to others to know what the stances do, who they are available to, and when monks can expect to get them.

I'm currently level 30 Harmonious so I just received my second set. Taken directly from the tooltips.

Harmonious Path of Mastery
Level 15
- Tiger:  Increases critical chance by 20% while increasing endurance costs by 50%.
- Crane:  Increases chance to block, parry and dodge by 20% and decreases endurance costs by 25%. Lowers damage by 20%.
- Harmonious Body:  Slowly regenerates Jin over time.

Level 30
- Magnificent Tiger:  Increases critical chance by 25% while increasing endurance costs by 50%.
- Eternal Crane:  Increases chance to block, parry and dodge by 25% and decreases endurance costs by 25%. Lowers damage by 20%.
- Harmonious Body:  Slowly regenerates Jin over time.

At 38 I Aumed to get the following Dragon Mastery skills not on your list:

Gouging Dragon Claw
1o Endurance
Dragon Master Finisher
Range: 5
Refresh: 2:00                  Cast: Instant
A ripping attack that inflicts melee damage plus 408 and causes the next attack you execute to deal 50% more damage.  Increases Jin by 1.

My thoughts on this is that it is completely worthless.  This is a finisher on my bar so I have to choose between a flying kick combo which will doing with Kick of the Heavens around 1.5K non-crits or this that will do 500-600 non-crit.  Let me think about that one...

Sun Dragon's Corona
6 Jin
Dragon Mastery                Self
Range: 5                           Cast: Instant
This ability surrounds you in the light of the Sun Dragon, causing fire damage to any opponent that strikes you and increases your fire resistance by 220.
- increases fire resistance
- minor damage shield
- uses inner focus

This lasts 10 minutes.  Not too shabby of a buff.  The damage shield did like mid-20's but oh well.  The best part about this skill is the animation for using it.  Totally first rate.  All in all, its better than a poke in the eye.

Just turned 18 as a Drunken monk.

Spinning Fist 1
Cost 4 Jin
Range 5
Refresh 5
Offensive target
Cast : instant

A precise attack that deals a minor 93 to 103 damage but will always result in a critical hit.

Title: Re: New Monk Ability List
Post by: Leishiu on March 24, 2007, 06:00:11 PM
Harmonious 46:

Deadly Adder V.
Same as before, but a tiny amout of more damage.

Withering Palm I
Costs 6 jin.
75% weapon + 100ish.
Makes mob deal 10% less damage and steal that for yourself.

Feels a bit wierd getting rank I of the supposed "trademark" debuff at 46. ;)

Title: Re: New Monk Ability List

Dragon at 50:

Stances upgraded to:

-Legendary Storm Dragon stance adds lightning damage per attack. Supposed to drain 1 Jin per 8 seconds.

-Dragon stance is supposed to add to your HP regen.

-Immortal Stone Dragon stance raises AC by ~900 as well as 50% fire/cold rune, -20% attack speed if you hover over the stance switch icon...or 30% fire/cold rune, -10% attack speed if you mouse over the buff icon.

Hit 42 Dragon last night and got Cloud Dragon Ruse II which has the same description as the first but for melee damage plus 287.  Also the first Sundering Dragon Claw which has the same information as Chunli's post above except my tooltip stated damage as 2251 to 2370 over 6 seconds with an endurance cost of 8.  Could buffs effect the tool tip?

Drunken Mastery (aquired using Aum Liat)

Level 34

Lurching Feint I

You lurch and weave, confusing your opponent and causing it to stop attacking for 3 seconds. This ability increases the crit chance on your next attack by 30% and always opens finishing attacks.

Buffs affect all your skills. Got to check them unbuffed. Some of my posts in this thread may be inaccurate in that respect as well. My post with the screenshots of all the skills at 50 is without buffs. Kind of dumb that buffs (and I am assuming gear/stat allocation) actually modifies the tooltip. There should be the normal damage it is supposed to do, then whatever mods your stats have on it maybe below the description.

If it said 8 END, then you had Aum Ti on: -20% END cost  8)

Any chance of Kaji's original database being updated to include Drunken and Harmonious mastery abilities?

I've been mulling around the idea of doing this. I have the Test toon I can go level by level through this for each style and hook it up into a swanky DB for display and make it searchable with nice bells and whistles.

I'll see what damage I can do this weekend and go from there.

Lvl 50 Divine tsunami - adv finisher after divine avalance ->Divine typhoon

Great list!

I have a question about the abilities you can learn by killing mobs. Can I get a list of witch spells it is and witch mobs to kill?

Hope someone can help!

Best regards,
Scarson

Any skill listed as dragon only/drunken only/harmonious only are learned from aums from those specific classes, check the skills and tactics threads theres 2 threads and both list em all

I've checked those lists and they do not really list what I am looking for.   The non-forum list is missing some aum learned abilities.  The posts are organized in a why that doesn't really show where the abilities are aquired from.
Going to start a google shared document with abilities set out in a more logical faction.  Should have something worth posting by this weekend.

Just FYI, Stinging Backfist 3, and Secret of Ice 1 are now L20, not L22.
Remade my monk recently and he has both, although is only barely L21 currently. GU5 seems to have adjusted skills levels for several classes.
