Title: Greystone Staff vs Flawlees Cavlier's Handwrap of Devestation
Post by: Siagon on July 17, 2008, 06:34:06 PM
Heyas,
I'm wondering if the Greystone staff is better than 2 Flawless Cavliers Handwraps of Devistation.  I'm sorry I do not have any links.  I just don't want to waste too much time in Greystone for the Staff that has a required level of 41 to equip when the Handwraps are 44.  Thanks!

Well, general consens is, that

Flawless Cavalier's Jagged Handwraps of Striking  http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1326613/ (http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1326613/)

are best for maximum damage.

Long time ago i "wasted" the resources for a handwrap of devastation, but when i got the handwrap of striking ... omg!
Attack value really skyrockets when you equip it primary hand.

I still say one handers and two handers have very different purposes for a monk, or any melee... Your one handers are for fast hits that open your finishers, and your two hander is for burning the finishers.  You can either add two /wear commands to all your base hotbar abilities for your wraps and have a /wear button for your 2 hander, or as I do, keep a separate set of keys with your /wear commands to the side to swap between base hits and finishers.

As Hag said, the best set of 1 handers we can get is the flawless cavalier's jagged wraps of striking. (Though the rules are different if you're Harmo ofc).  With these, you'll be opening finishing chains (nearly) every hit.  Your Graystone staff will then give you some very nice big hits from the finishers :)

Oh and as a crafter, I would never never never put a devastation crystal on a jagged wrap... You halve the values of both crit chance and melee damage rating you would get if you had used the jagged strapping or crystal of devastation alone on the wrap.  Striking is well worth the investment!

I have 2 questions on the above.

I am using 2 Handwraps of Striking, as Harmo monk, and I am fairly happy with them ... why is "the rule" apply differently to Harmo monks?

Second question, where does the Cragwind bladed staff stands compared to the Greystone? I know it is lower level and all, but how big is the difference?

*salutes*

The striking is perfectly good, I would put that on a handwrap alone and wear it if I were definitely in the market for a crafted one.  Its the Jagged I was referring to as being useless to a Harmo since we max our crit chance we can gain from buffs and gear with the Legendary Tiger
