Vanguard Monks

Hi everyone,
     I'm a level 30, Harmonious Monk on Xeth and I have been cruising these forums for a while now.  I have seen may forums asking or talking about Monks main stats with many varying opinions.  I'm tending to lean toward STR/INT/DEX.  Now my question is, would it be INT or WIS?  I notice WIS gives spells a higher crit hit chance ie DoT's and Debuffs.  INT does none of that.  Will our DoT's crit?  Are are DoT's more powerful with WIS or INT?  I'm confused...

I could be wrong but aren't the few DoT's that monks have melee-based and not spell? ??? Anyways, I think DEX/STR  for two main stats & leftovers on CON  would be the better choice. So wouldn't INT & WIS be a waste of attributes?..  Monks need Dex for crits/evasion & STR for dps primarily ;D

Yeah thats honestly what my monk build was, STR/DEX/CON.  I visted the guy in khal that lets you redistribute your points and i dumped all out of DEX and maxed INT just to try and I must say it sucked.  :-\ Couldn't Evade to land my Debuffs, Rarley Critted and got the SNARF beat out of me.  Thus, i made a trip back to khal and fixed myself =)  I don't know what those others were talking about on older threads but I gave it a shot for about an hour and changed back to me previous build.  How could my fellow monks mislead me? HOW!?  :'(

Id go Str>dex> con till 50.  Then when you have decent heroic gear you can switch to  Str>int>con

Wis does nothing for monks.   Int is for secret damage, and at 50 my dex is high enough that i crit/evade plenty.  (the evasion from dex is incredibly tiny)  At 50 the lost in crit is about 5% so its hardly noticable.

What are these secrets you speak of?

Secret of Fire and Secret of Ice.  The damage they add to each attack increases with higher Int.  Because they effect each attack, Int is just as important to our dps as Str.  However, I'd also recommend keeping a Str > Dex > Con stat allocation until lvl 50.  Once you hit 50 and acquire some high level gear (a crafted set or swamp armor set at least), though, you'll notice a dps increase from going Str > Int > Con and not much detriment from having no points in Dex.

Like xeno and i said, str>dex>con till 50.  Then gear will get u above 400 dex and u can focus on int.   Unbuffed at 50 im 650ish str, 389 dex, 290ish int...i think ill check later
