Vanguard Monks

Hey guys! Level 50 drunken monk here. As I read these forums I cant help but notice that you guys are doing ALOT more damage than I do. I dont think ive ever hit for more that 19k ever.
I have almost 600 str and about 400 dex I use the bladed staff from greystone that has 84dps on it.
I use secrets iron palm and aum kor usually.
When I use finishers they hit for 3-5k, crit for 10-11k.
fists of celerity and errant strikes are on such a long reuse timer they are inconsequential.
Should I be using macros or something to up my dmg ?
If so can someone suggest a few
Id like to be as effective as possible to help my guild during raids.

First of all dex doesn't really add much to your dps, Str + Int are the best point for point return in regards to dmg.

Also Fists on 5min timer, defo isn't inconsequential..in raids mine is 2min 15sec refresh or roughly around that....that's almost every single fight, or every other fight, and even multiple times on the same fight.
Also i'm addicted to Bm's quickening Jolt, ask your guild bm for one on raids, and stack with fists of C.

I'm not very experienced with drunken but i imagine...open with Crescent Kick/ashen hand to get crit chains up (both have hidden crit modifiiers), then use (if not on cooldown) Thousand fists line> Exploding heart chain>flying kick, and repeat.

I'm harmonious so i save Fist of C + quickening jolt for the exploding heart chain, maybe works out better if you use it for Thousand fists chain..will have to ask another drunken, i found drunken monk was really low dps EXCEPT when you could use the Thousand Fists chain - and it was really huge dps
but yeh in a raid i'm hitting really strong 50k upwards almost every fight from that, and then use ashen hand + thousand fists with the rest of the 20sec celerity buff.

Of course it's a lot more complex than that, those are just some things i do off the top of my head.
Gear is probably your most important thing - if you're running around with blue/yellow gear then yeh..you won't hit as hard as some of these monks.
I've always preferred Handwraps over staffs, at the time i found a couple of blue handwraps from rahz was giving me more overall dmg than the graystone bladestaff, apparently not all monks have got this though.

You are hitting that hard with handwraps? I have 90% orange gear. Hmm Im not getting something

Maybe your problem is external,
for maximum dps you need at least a bard + cleric in group. Don't say no to Bear sham buffs too (albeit doesn't need to be in group)
Make sure your bard is using a lute off-hand + voice mod mask too..and preferably enough energy regen gear to pump out the best possible song...also make sure they are using sensible song components :- +dmg +attributes +refreshhaste (you won't believe some of the bards "dps" songs people make)

Sounds to me like you don't have a one..sometimes i raid short on my regular group bard...and it's painful, very painful, they are the single most important buff for your dps.

As a drunken monk your best dps combo will be stacking Fists of Celerity and Errant strikes and then going through your thousand fist line. You will most likly see higher than 19k on each attack solo doing this.

Okay how would BM quicken Jolt & First of Celerity stack?

Fist of C your special attacks hits twice, what does Quicken Jolt do?

My guess is they are the same.  Round number with Exploding Heart chian &
Fist of C 1100x2,1500x2 & 1100x2 == 7400k 

 add BM == 7400x == 14800. Not includeing Thousand Fists chain

Is this correct?

Fist of C is 20sec what is Quicken jolt?

Combining errant strikes and celerity will up your thousand fist hits to around 35k each....havent tried to combine jolt with that but will in near future.

Sidenote: Errant strike doesnt always work for some reason even if you retarget your tank during the fight. Quite annoying.

Once you get your 5set of APW armor your dps will skyrocket with celerity proccing very often in some cases.

I generally activate quickening jolt with my exploding heart macro and it lasts through the 4 thousand fists.

I haven't had problems with errant strike not working here, however I have had all sorts of problems if I have it up and my defensive target is not the tank.  Such as chains not popping when they are suppose to.

On another weird note about errant strikes and the patch, my counter abilities will occassionaly activate when my defensive target dodges or parries I hope this gets fixed soon as it makes monks go from now debuffs, to basically king of all debuffs with quivering palm activating several times a minute on me fighting trash and Brok the biomancer in Marina the other night.
